Sweet Shot Tuesday

by Darcy on July 27, 2010

in sweet shot day

Is it really Tuesday already? Can you believe – I was at the supermarket yesterday and while walking through I spotted the candy aisle. Okay, well… a certain boybarian spotted the candy aisle. And you know what? The end-cap display said “Trick or Treat” and it had jack-o-lanterns all over it.

It’s July!

Like people are really going to buy Halloween candy in July. Good grief. Who can actually make a bag of candy in their house last that long?

Anyway – point is – time is flying! It’s nearly back-to-school time (or if you’re a homeschooler, nearly time for the Not-back-to-school Blog Hop!) So I encourage you to go make memories. The pool. The slip-n-side. Lemonade stands. The sprinkler.

Whatever summer means to you, go take a picture of it. Blink and it’ll be August. I can’t wait to see what you come up with.

Let the fun begin!

I’m going to put my fingers in my ears and sing “MARY HAD A LITTLE LAMB” as loud as I can if someone mentions Christmas to me before halloween! ;)

I noticed last week that Hobby Lobby already had Christmas things starting to come out! You are right… time sure flies! :)

It absolutely flies by faster and faster every year. I’ve blinked and my baby is in third grade. THIRD GRADE! How in the world did that happen? He should still be playing with his Thomas train set, not Lego Mindstorms.

As Kristen said, last week I was visiting a couple of blogs who truly were celebrating Christmas in July – and I have to say, I did feel a wee bit cooler. :) Since September – December is my absolutely fave time of year, I must admit, I’m starting to look forward to it all just a bit.

But I LOVED what you said – to go MAKE memories. I’ve learned, if you PLAN to do fun things with your kids and grandkids to help create delightful family memories, they often happen. If you don’t plan, they frequently never happen. It really makes a difference!

Thanks for another delightful Sweet Shot Tuesday. You’re such a good encouragement to me for photos and how-tos and I really appreciate you! :)

Amen and Amen. Hobby Lobby was full of Thanksgiving and Christmas decor weeks ago. Sigh… Spot-on post concerning pet-peeves. Sudden loud music scares me!

Great job keeping up with Sweet Shots, Darcy. Time flies, for sure!

Hey Darcy! Hope you’re having a good week. I am in accord with you on the Halloween candy. Please. If there’s anyone out there who can keep candy intact from July to October, I’d like to meet him or her.

I DID get a sweet shot this week–not because it’s a great photo, but because it’s of my boy. My oldest son is spending the summer in California. I haven’t seen him since May, and I got to visit him last week. All I had with me was my iPhone, but you can bet I snapped some photos of him! :)

Take care!

Oh my goodness. It’s crazy how fast this summer is flying by. Halloween stuff in July is a bit nuts, of course so is Christmas stuff in July.

Thanks for the reminder… we will be living it up today! The boys and two friends will be carving their own roasting sticks for hot dogs and s’mores later and then a camp out under the stars and cinnamon rolls in the morning… ah, blessed summer:) Oh, and plenty of cold watermelon to go around!

Ooooh, I’m so excited you’re doing the blog hop again this year! Last year, I was just contemplating homeschooling, and I swear I went through and read every single post you linked to in the blog hop, soaking up as much information as I possibly could. :)

And this year… I can participate! :)

Hey, Darcy, thought I’d join this week. Still learning & trying to get some good shots, it’s been a fun process. Whenever I join your parties, the box to add my url will not let me right-click & paste. Don’t know why, but it never works on this party. :)

It totally stressed me out when that put all that seasonal stuff out early! I took 6 yr. old with me to Hobby Lobby yesterday and he saw the Christmas stuff and went nuts. He thought it was almost Christmas!!! I realize crafters need that stuff early, but come on grocery stores you are killing me with seasonal anxiety!

Hi Darcy. I too am trying to avoid thinking about Christmas (and Halloween) as much as possible, but still I keep thinking about it. Maybe I should start singing! Thanks for adding my photo. I didn’t think I had uploaded it right, but I am pleased to see that it still worked!
