Sweet Shot Tuesday

in sweet shot day

Have you all been outside enjoying the summer weather? If you’re in Houston or Key West, perhaps you’re wilting – but for those of us who spend 6 months a year under a blanket of snow it’s been awesome outside shooting! Can’t wait to see what you all have up your sleeves!

A BIG HUGE thank you to Studiopress who sponsored our last week’s giveaway! The winner of the Genesis for Wordpress and Pixel Happy child theme licenses is Catherine at Halsey Happenings who shared this gorgeous pool-fun shot:

Shoot me an email, Catherine! An aside – if you’re not already a fan of Catherine’s blog, run don’t walk. She has amazing light in her images.

In other photo news – Lightroom 3 has been released out of beta. You can download it now for a free 30-day trial – there’s a button on my sidebar that leads right to it. I urge you to try it – since it costs nothing, you have nothing to lose. It’s about a 9 minute download on DSL, faster on cable. And if you decide to buy it – you don’t have to redownload, you can plug in the license code. Easy, right?

When I was trying to decide what I thought Sweet Shot Tuesday photographers would benefit from most, I knew at some time I wanted to give away 2 of the books that helped me most.

Understanding Exposure, Bryan Peterson and The Digital Photography Book, Scott Kelby

One participant will receive a copy of each book! Woot. If you don’t feel like waiting, here are links to find them yourself.

It was Bryan’s book that totally made aperture versus shutter speed click for me… um… click… get it? Kelby’s book is the first in the series of 3 – each filled with no-nonsense, casual kind of writing in the way you’d have a conversation. No fluffy technical stuff.

Without further ado – hit me with your best shot!

I am loving getting involved in Sweet Shot Tuesday now that I have my own fancy-schmancy camera. Thanks for hosting! And, what a sweet prize pack this week! Definitely two books that I could use. I’ve already got Scott Kelby’s book on my Amazon wish list.

The Kelby book was one of my first purchases, too! Haven’t opened it in ages, but I remember thinking it was simple and understandable for the newbie photographer!

What a cute winning photo. I keep telling the calendar it’s still only spring but the weather keeps saying SUMMER everywhere! What a blessing those large inflatable swimming pools are – or for that matter, pools of any size! And what adorable pictures they can lead to, especially this one. :) Thanks for another fun Sweet Shot Tuesday.

No contest here. :) Try the other site, they might judge images. Here it’s open to everyone, and winners are drawn randomly.

Hey, Darcy, so I’m putting a photo up this week. Got my new camera (and yes, of course, you knew I’d get the Canon and I did!). Nothing really outstanding on these shots yet, but I hope to get better. Having fun playing around with it.

I’d love to win one of these books, need all the help I can get! :)
