It’s that time of year again.

Check out this baby boy. I know you wanna smooch him.

Isn’t he beautiful? I love taking baby pictures. I especially love photographing tiny little miracles like the one above. That boy is so loved. My own little guys – I wish I had more baby photos of them. I have many snapshots. But we have very few really quality, keepsake kind of images. So I urge those of you whose babies are still little… please, please get them photographed. Not a snapshot with your point and shoot. Call a baby photographer! You’ll never regret capturing those tiny feet and chubby hands.

Christmas is just around the corner. I know, I know, don’t shoot the messenger. You are running out of time if you want your portraits back by December 1. That’s only a month and a half away, and most photographers want family sittings done by mid-November to guarantee an early December delivery. So, get crackin’. Pick up that phone. My blog can wait…

If you’re in the Des Moines, Iowa surrounding area… I have only a couple available times left for holiday portraits to guarantee your images and holiday cards arrive in early December. Please email me to schedule your sitting and for details.

ps – No pressure or anything, but see that adorable baby and family above? She’s a photographer. Jen is the genius who took our family photo. That’s right, turns out, if you’re the photographer, you have to do your own family portraits way before the holiday rush. Ours were taken at the beginning of October. Yeah, 12 weeks before the holiday. You can laugh, but Target had their Christmas stuff out since September. September!

Our Family

Isn’t that absurd?

I so want you to photograph my family but that means figuring out clothes and having my picture taken…ugh and double ugh! I might just use one of the pics you took of my kiddos for Christmas cards this year. Loving that stress-free idea!

I so wish I could book a session with you. I hear ya on those baby pictures, I really wish we’d had a better camera and I’d taken the time and paid the money for someone to really capture my tiny newborns the way I see the newborns captured on so many site/blogs these days.
You do a fabulous job with little ones!

Hey Darcy,

Just wondering what kind of lens you used for that first shot? It is so beautiful! Love it! I’d book a session with you if you want to fly out to Japan :)

Hi Amy –

That shot was taken with a Nikon d700 and a 24-70mm lens. It has a shallow focal point so the baby is in focus but his parents are not.

I’d love to fly to Japan to shoot your family – and the amazing Japanese landmarks. That would be an expensive portrait session! ;)

Noooooo…not yet!!! I need to lose 40 pounds first!

You are so right…and I do so want to have a picture taken this year by a professional….candid shots that catches the kids true personalities….*but only if it depicts them as the cherubs they are smiling with joy* :)

I’m going to make an appointment immediately!!!!

Oh Darcy, that picture should win some kind of award. My goodness, it’s the perfect picture – everything is just right. What a cute little guy too! If I lived nearby, I’d be calling you. Like yesterday. :)
