We did it! August was a great month for the homeschool community – thank you to all of you who participated in the blog hop, especially those of you who visited so many families’ links to give such encouraging words. This blog hop was a blast, I learned so much at the HOTM online conference, and because of all your great blogs, we now have so many blogs that are nominate-worthy for the upcoming Homeschool Blog Awards at The Post (formally “Homeschool Blog Awards”).
This is our final week. Please post your gently used curriculum that you’d like to sell or pass on to another family. This linky is for families to sell their own books and materials – please, no resellers or small businesses. Interested buyers can leave their interest in the seller’s comments or via email.
Along with this curriculum sale, I’m really hoping that our homeschool community will rally around one of its own. I know many of you have been hit hard by this economy down slump. Imagine trying to get the books and materials you need for 7 children when your husband’s job no longer exists. Last year, he spent most of the year jobless, only to lose it again not long after being back to work. She states, “So where does that leave us as far as curriculum goes? Well, that leaves me being forced to rely on creativity, ingenuity, resourcefulness, but most importantly, the blessings and provisions of the Lord which have always proven to be more than enough for my family and me!”
She has kids up to the 10th grade. She has the younger kids’ math books taken care of. If you feel compelled to help, please contact me via email so I can connect you with this family. And thank you in advance for your kindness. I leave you with this, my favorite line from a recent blog post of hers:
“After all of these years, I’m just beginning to realize that “There is no Secret Ingredient,” to quote from one of my all-time favorite movies. There is no secret curriculum, no perfect homeschooling philosophy or teaching style, no easy no-fail recipe for homeschooling success. The only thing that’s really necessary is you… ”

Thanks for being such a wonderful hostess all month, Darcy. This has been a fun hop and an encouragement to all homeschooling moms!
Blessings,
Tammy ~@~
Yes! Many thanks for doing the blog hop! It really lit a fire under me to get some homeschooling posts up on my blog rather than my usual pattern of procrastination!
This is great! A virtual used curriculum sale. I don’t even have to leave my home!
Blessings,
Ali
I have Saxon Algebra 1 if that family would like it. They may of already done Algebra. Please email me the information, because I may have other books as well. We are in the later part of our homeschool years, so there may be something we can help out with.
Yay! I don’t have anything I can offer up at this point because everything either gets used up or passed onto the next child but I still wrote a post telling my readers about it. Thanks for the opportunity to maybe find the last two things I need. =)
My NBTS Curriculum Sale post.
Thanks, Darcy.
I would love to know what this family needs. I have a ton of stuff as I have just emptied my bookshelves and would love to pass it along if they can use it! can you email me and let me know their needs??
thanks so much for doing this blog hop. it has been to visit all these blogs and check out their homeschools!! i wish i could follow them all!!
Darcy,
I just wanted to thank you for hosting the Not Back to School Blog Hop. I just checked my stats for the month and I had 539 visits from your site! Wow! I found a lot of great new blogs too. What a great idea.
Wish I had found you sooner! I just started a ‘homeschool’ blog. Anyway… If she needs pre-k stuff, I have Get Ready for the Code A, B, C that I just decided not to use. I may also be willing to give Explode the Code 1 to her. I’m pretty sure I won’t use that either.
I’m late on this but here is our NOT school room. http://outsidethebox.gallew.org/?p=565
I added that and meant to include a thank you for hosting this blog hop. It has been really wonderful and I quite enjoyed myself.
Thank you
Darla
Darcy, I think it’s wonderful that you’ve hosted this great series. I wish you’d been around back when I was homeschooling! Of course, that was back in the days of dial-up internet connections, when we paid per minute of internet use. Can you imagine? Anyway, I am blessed to know that homeschooling families now have such wonderful resources at their disposal. God bless you for pulling so much together for this big blog hop.
Hope you have a great weekend!
XOXO,
Richella
Hey there! Will you be doing the homeschool-not-back-to-school hop again?
I’m swimming in a sea of decisions and would love input from other homeschool mom’s.
What are y’all doing for the 2010-2011 year?
