It’s that time of year. All the stores are shouting: BACK TO SCHOOL. But for many of us, it’s “school as usual.”
Not anymore! Time for some fanfare!
Learn what others are using. Share your plans. See what works, or what doesn’t, for others. Share your photos. It’s a Not-Back-to-School blog hop for homeschoolers, afterschoolers, preschoolers, carschoolers, anyone – anyone at all – who teaches at home and wants to share or needs a little encouragement.
- First week in August: It’s a curriculum hop. Share your well-researched plans on your post. Show us what you love. Four math curriculums later… you decided on?? McLinky will go up on Monday 8/3/09!
- Second week in August: It’s a school room hop. Tell us about your “school room”. This can be a dedicated space, or what you’ve made work. Post photos, storage ideas, comfy chairs. Your garage? Or dining room table? An actual school house? Show us where you school! McLinky will go up on 8/10/09!
- Third week in August: It’s a “not back to school photo” hop. This time, share your students! All too often, homeschoolers forget to take that token not-back-to-school photo. So, you can wear a backpack and new shoes like the typical first-day-of-school photos, or you can wear a batman costume, goggles and barefeet – like my homeschoolers. Come as you are. First-day-of school photos shared. McLinky will go up on the 8/17/09.
- Fourth week in August: Day in the life. Do you rise at dawn, say the pledge of allegiance, sit at desks, have recess? Do you school year round or do nature hikes? Or do you start well-caffeinated and hide in the bathroom for your own recess? Tell us about a typical (or not so typical) day in the life of your homeschool. McLinky will go up on 8/24/09.
So, this year – let’s have some fanfare! Spread the fun, encouragement, hard work and beautiful students you work so hard for.

Oh…what a great idea. I have been quite remiss in posting homeschool stuff this past year. I need to get back into gear!
I’m SO stinkin’ excited about this. I was just tell my husband that this is hands-down the best time of year to read blogs, for ideas and inspiration. School is upon us! Books are bought, schoolroom is being revamped, and my energy (and heart rate) is rising. Kudos to you.
Thank you thank you thank you for this great idea! Urban Kid 1 is starting “first grade” this year, and I’m all prepped and over-prepped, I think. Since we’re all-new at this, I’m always interested to see what others are doing. It’s reassuring and also sparks ideas.

The curriculum sale sounds good. Not sure if I have anything I need to sell but I’m sure others do and this would be a good way to pass it along.

I just did posts about our homeschool plans and first day of school pictures is it ok to put them in Mr. Linky the appropriate week or do they have to be new posts??
And yes, I have some stuff I have been trying to sell and have not had any takers. Maybe someone one coming from this Blog Hop could use them. It would be nice to see them go to a new home instead of sitting in a box.

Great idea! Thanks so much for letting me know about this. Our school room is destroyed right now and our books are in boxes, but maybe I’ll just remember the serenity of having everything in its place last year. It will give me a goal to shoot for.

Awesome! I am so psyched to be able to share with other homeschoolers out there…this will be great! I added the button to my blog.
