I Love Lucy

by Darcy on July 23, 2009

in funny stuff, house stuff

Gracious, I’ve been wanting to use that title for-absolutely-ever.

So who’s Lucy?

Well, you got to meet her briefly in my horribly embarrassing video blog.

This girl cracks me up.

She thinks she’s a dog. She comes running to the door to greet anyone from guests to the Fed Ex guy.
She throws herself on their feet, demanding a rub.
She only drinks running water. Water snob.
She drools when she sleeps.
She follows me everywhere I go. Even the bathroom. If she can’t get in, she sticks her paws under the door until I come out.
She starts begging for food the nano-second her last kibble has been eaten. Silly, chubby cat.
She loves the smell and warmth of fresh laundry and plants her hairy black body all over it and my white duvet every. single. time. I fold laundry.

And, quite often, she is caught in photos doing absolutely ridiculous things:

Don’t see her? Try this one:

Is she not the goofiest creature in the world?

What goofy things do your pets do?

ps – If you are my neighbor… don’t be hatin’ on the lawn. The wha-wha-wha on the lawn mower is broken, and since Handy Man sounds like the grown ups on Charlie Brown when he talks about parts, I have no idea what it means except the lawn is not mowed this week. Don’t be hatin’ too much. I give out the best Halloween candy. You can come mow it though, if ya’ want.

That is funny!

It’s like she’s saying, “Let me out! I want to play, too!”

Recently my 100 lb+ black lab came to me wearing a floor air conditioning vent around his neck. He had been sleeping on the vent and the tag on his collar got stuck in it.

And, hey, our grass looks like that too, only we can’t blame it on the wha-wha-wha.

ROFL! My cat hangs from the window on the door just peeping into the window to let us know she needs to come inside. Cat’s do the weirdest things (Including dressing up in doll clothes…wait maybe that’s my kids doing that to them come to think of it)

Ha! Lucy is pretty funny in that picture…

What goofy things DOESN’T my dog do? We have a Great Dane who is always doing ridiculous things. She can’t walk backwards, hates ceiling fans, and needs my help to get in the back our our vehicle (her head is shoulder high on me and she outweighs me by 10 lbs).

Oh, and last fall she chewed the end of her tail OFF. Yep. We got to have an amputation surgery. Sigh.

That made me LOL! My Shelties are the most boring dogs in the world (but I love them anyway), but my Golden Retriever makes me laugh almost daily. I have never had a dog that chased his tail until we rescued Jonathan. He did it more when he was bitty puppy, but even now, if we want to distract him, all we have to do is shove his tail in his mouth. He also has a couple of soft John Deere-logo balls that were once attached to a rope. He will play with those things by himself, no human needed, for a long time. He will jump on the couch, take one in his mouth, and throw it into the air, jumping after it like he does when we throw a ball. It’s almost as funny as when he puts both of them in his mouth at the same time. I HAVE to do a post about that one. It is so stinkin’ cute.

That is so funny, I had to show my oldest. The closest we have to a pet right now is a caterpillar, which you can see on my geocaching blog. No funny pictures or stories about it yet. We haven’t even named it.

We’ve caterpillars now, too. Hopefully fodder for another post.

We have 9 surviving painted lady butterflies. A couple have just moved into the hanging position. Should be fun to document.

Oh, Lucy. You got some ’splainin’ to do!

That picture is a scream. I was laughing like a loon for a few minutes there.

I was looking for her — that is too funny. Reminds me of my roommate’s cat – I swear she thought she was a dog too. Drank from the faucet, climbed the screen door, followed me around, slept on top of my head even though I was allergic. She is a great cat. She still lives with my friend but I’m not sure if she remembers me. It’s been over 12 years since we lived together.

Too funny! I love quirky pets. We have a dog and she steals toys. She will go into the playroom and actually look around. When she finds one she takes it to her food bowl. At the end of the day (or two) we’ll go to her bowl and bring them back. She’s weird. Looney Dog

Our dogs are not funny. Unless you like howling in the middle of the night or breaking a few branches off a prized plant in the flowerbed to find the perfect napping spot. And let’s not forget the birds and squirrels that are chased, captured and eaten on a semi-regular basis (and yes, we do feed them decent dog food– they it all of it too!).

Our silly, ‘free cat’ spent much of his kittenhood wrapped in dolly clothes complete with bonnets. My daughter found him in our cherry tree 2 1/2 years ago on a blustery, November day. He is hilariously docile….

(Here he is enjoying being piled with grass on a summer evening. He usually just plays along.)

I had never seen your video blog. I’m so glad you linked to it. It was fun to get to see you moving and hear you talking–why is that so much more “lifelike” than still photography? But I’m stunned to see how young you look. You must have started your family when you were very, very young. I confess I feel a little old after seeing this. Oh, well.

We have a small beagle and a medium-sized pound puppy. They are such goofballs. They are also a lot of work. But life without dogs? I don’t think so.

Have a great weekend!

Lucy cracks me up! We have two cats – Lucy & Linus. I don’t think I’ve ever seen either one of them do that to the window. You have a very social cat!

I have a whole post full of weird things my cats do. I need to write it one day. Buster begs for food on his hind legs like a dog. Sassy can’t bear to be petted unless you are in a certain special spot in the hallway – we call it the magic hallway. Nike Sneakers and I have arguments all the time about whether or not his bowl has food it in, whether he can sit in my lap or not, or if he can go out or not. Usually I win, but not always. Buster and Sassy have a weird face they make when they smell something they don’t like – we call it their stink face. I’ll have to get a picture of it one day – it’s really very funny!

This is too funny . . . because I just posted about my cat (who’s partially black and definitely chubby), but I hadn’t read yours until mine was up – 7 days later. LOL!!! I think our cats must be kindred spirits.

Check out her silliness here.

Oh, I love Lucy too. And my kiddos, they love your Lucy. She is the best cat-dog ever :)
