He’ll always be my baby…

by Darcy on July 15, 2009

in Trouble, growing up

Today he starts kindergarten.

sweet little hands

And although those early years were so hard…

little fingers

… I’m just not sure how they flew by so fast.

5 little pigs

My last kindergartner. The very last “first day”. And sometimes, in those wee mornings, when he’s a blur of stretching and waking…

stretch

He looks exactly like that 36 oz baby on a warming bed I worried so much about years ago.

sleepy

So tonight he sleeps peacefully. When he wakes up, my baby starts kindergarten.

I’ll try to sob softly.

Darcy,
I am always so impressed with your photographs of your boys. I could just reach right on out and give them a big hug they are so precious! I know he will be so excited when he wakes up as a big kindergartener. Enjoy the last of your first days of kindergarten.

He looks so cozy and peaceful. Are you going to let him sleep for just another minute?

He’s going to love Kindergarten. I think you will too.

Congrats! Are you guys starting early this year? Or are you still schooling year round? Either way, make lots of pictures and tell us all about it! :o )

First day of kindergarten? Ohhhhh…. you can do this, girl!

Remember, every day is a new “first!”

The pictures are breath-taking, as always. I hope you have poster-sized prints of yours all around the house. You know, you could sell the prints and save money for the boys’ college… ouch. Sorry, did I just mention college? ;-)

My baby turned five on July 2. He started Kindergarten a week ago. I still haven’t blogged or written about it yet. My heart is broken. I don’t want to ever lose his sweet kisses and the love he so openly shares with me. I know your pain!!!!

So beautiful. I love that you captured him the morning of. He’ll do great. I think it’s harder on us. It just hit me to hear “the very last “first day” – I’ll be there next year. sigh…

That was a beautiful post – pictures and words. My children are 4 and 2 and they go to daycare/preschool. But there is something about kindergarten. It just seems like such a HUGE milestone and end of an era. I am not sure I like the idea of that, but it will happen anyway.

Good luck to you and your boy.

These are some of your most beautiful photos, I think. You’re going to be so glad you took these pictures.

Milestones are hard, aren’t they? It’s good for us to stop and remember just how quickly the years do go by. Especially when some days and some hours seem to drag interminably. The days are long, but the years are short.

Extra love to you and yours today.

Awwww… I know the feeling. My oldest hit Jr. High last year. That was harder for me than kindergarten… it just felt so final. The last lap… home stretch… not much time left. *sigh*

Cherish these kindergarten days. They do go by so fast…

Awe… you’re making me sad! My baby starts kinder this year too, but I have a few more weeks to dread it. You must school year ’round?

I hope he had a wonderful first day, and that you didn’t cry all.day.long. I’m sure I will.
